And the BIG NEWS Is…

My biggest collective cooking adventure yet… an Urban Cooking school called Eat Well.

I’ve been teaching cooking classes for a bit, and met a lot of great people along the way, and, now, I’m taking the next step. I’ve teamed up with Mark Dessert, an excellent Chef Teacher who runs a large co-working teaching kitchen in a space overlooking Lake Merritt that is not just fully equipped but also quite lovely. We, and a team of local chefs, are launching Eat Well, an East Bay Urban Cooking School, a community based cooking school offering a variety of cooking classes featuring seasoned professional culinary instructors & local chefs, local food artisans

You are invited to our launch event, Wednesday, March 8th, for a Happy Hour Chili Cook Off, 6 – 9pm

If you want to enter your recipe, the Chili Cook-off is open to everyone, all you have to do to enter is bring it!  Bring your best chili (8-12 quarts) for everyone to taste. Of course, there will be prizes for the winning entries and a free raffle for everybody on our mailing list with Cooking Classes, Kitchen Schwag, Spice Blends, and more! Along with the chili, we will make other delicious sides such as cornbread and …, and we will have beer from some of our favorite local breweries (Novel, Fieldwork, Faction and Temescal Brewing Companies), California Wines and Non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase.

Don’t have time to make chili? Come and be part of the fun as we gather to try neighbors and friends recipes and a night of good eating and drinking to celebrate with us. Tickets are only $10 and include a free drink.

Whole Hog Butchery
We buy a local pig and learn to butcher it, I’ll take you step by step discussing cooking and more as we break down an entire pig, hands on & in community.  Then we’ll divide it u and take home 10 lbs each.Sat, March 4th, 10am-2pm

CHILI COOKOFF INAUGURAL HAPPY HOUR
Pasta from Scratch

We will learn to make pasta dough from scratch, how to roll it out and cut it, and then we’ll make ourselves dinner from tagliatelle to ravioli. Come and learn step by step, hands on, this is a skill to be mastered and a night to remember.
